Hello fellow crafters! Candice Meyer here with a tutorial on using a digital scrapbook template. I had the pleasure of working with LivEdesigns ‘s EZPZ Template 05 to document the latest and greatest in toddler life this summer.
I love using beautiful templates. For me, they combine the best of 2 worlds- they provide structure while being completely flexible! Since they contain a framework of where to place your photos and papers, they are also a huge timesaver.
I fell in love with the bright, modern designs of the Spice Market collection and couldn’t wait to add them to this template. Based on these beautiful designs, I knew I wanted my color palette to be aqua, coral, and orange.
Since I knew I would be working with a different color palette, the first thing I did when I opened the template in Photoshop Elements was to delete the red background paper labeled LIVE5-Paper-Sangria, as well as the LIVE5-BIG5-Floral.
Now, here’s the fun part: adding in your new papers, photos, and embellishments! Since the layers are already in your template, it’s extremely easy to identify where to delete, add, or replace.
- Clipped new papers to the background and #5 layers.
- Clipped new papers to the photo mat layers.
- Positioned a few fun embellishments.
- Added my photos.
- Recorded my thoughts and memories with journaling text.
- Finalized the design! Saved and printed!
Tip #1: You can manipulate the color of the papers included within the pack to fit your design concept. I added a Saturation Layer to the orange paper in the kit. Check the “Colorize” box and then change the sliders to achieve your desired hue! Here’s a snapshot of my orange color turning pink:
Tip #2: I also decided to lighten the aqua background paper I selected as my template base. To do this, simply add a Brightness/Contrast layer and clip it to the aqua paper. Adjust the brightness slider slightly to give everything a little extra pop!
Tip #3: Don’t forget that you can hide layers! Click on the small eye icon to hide a layer’s visibility. This trick is extremely helpful when you deciding on whether you like a certain embellishment.
There you have it—A to Z on using templates! Try one out when you are striving for a cohesive look but still want to add your unique creative spin.

Hello Snap Click Supply Co fans! This is Betsy here and I had the great honor of working with a couple of Nancie Rowe Janitz’ kits. Nancie is such an incredible artist and I loved using her digital artwork to make art for my home. I wanted to add some texture to the digital print I created and this is how I did it:
- I used two of Nancie’s kits to create this wall art. The background is from: Scrap Art Starts 17 and the quote is from: Happy Thoughts.
I changed the color of the quote and placed it on the background I used. After resizing my Photoshop canvas to fit the frame I had, I printed the digital work out on a piece of canvas paper.
- I pinned the printed canvas paper onto a piece of cardboard to keep it steady. The pins stay in place if you insert and lay the pins flat.
- I brushed a Light Molding Paste over the entire canvas. Next time, I would try a heavier bodied paste for even more texture.
- On areas that I wanted more texture, I went heavy on the paste.
- I painted over the quote to add even more texture and make the quote pop.
- I shadowed the quote using a Tim Holtz Distress Marker in pumice stone.
- I added a piece of vintage doily with Zip Dry glue.
- When the art was dry, I cut the edges to fit into my 8 x 10 frame. This wall art now has a hand-crafted look!
